The Women United Read to Succeed initiative aims to help students read at grade level by the end of third grade, when students begin to transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.” Trained, volunteer reading coaches meet weekly with students at local elementary schools for 20-30 minutes to listen to them read and provide intervention tactics to improve their reading skills.

Read to Succeed

The Women United steering committee meets monthly to provide direction and support. They help plan and implement volunteer projects and social events that support their mission to encourage children to learn to read on grade level by third grade.
