You can play an active role in distributing funds.

Ever wonder how we invest in nonprofit programs? Because United Way’s mission is to meet the needs of the community, we enlist the help of community volunteers. Apply today to be one of more than 100 volunteers who review nonprofit program investment applications and make funding recommendations – making sure United Way contributions do the most good.

FEEL LIKE DOING SOME GOOD?

Opportunities on the Plains, our annual fall investment cycle, is a critical piece to the work of United Way of the Plains. It allows volunteers, who are passionate about our focus areas of health, education, financial stability and basic needs, to make a meaningful impact and advance the common good in south central Kansas. We invite you to apply to become a volunteer and engage in an objective process that drives lasting change in the community.

What to expect

Volunteers will serve nine and a half hours in the spring. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:

  • One and a half hours of training beginning Monday, March 7. Training will be offered in-person and virtually.
  • Four hours reviewing and ranking applications.
  • Four hours serving on panels to make funding recommendations. CDC guidelines will be followed to determine if panels will be held virtually or in-person.
